Welcome to the Year of the Monkey

By - Posted under Business

We love to read our horoscopes, whether we believe in them or not, but at this time of year we turn our attention to the Chinese zodiac. Monday, February 8 is the start of the Chinese New Year and the Year of the Monkey. Celebrated by more than a billion people across the globe this is one of the biggest holidays around.

We thought we'd have a little fun and see what the Year of the Monkey has in store for us.

Of the 12 animal signs in the Chinese zodiac, monkeys are considered the tricksters, so this is likely to be an exciting and interesting year. Those of us born under the sign of the rabbit, snake, ox, rooster and rat will have the best luck of all the animal signs. (I’m headed for a lucky year!) And more women will be in power - Hillary?

Master Thean Y Nang, a Buddhist Feng Shui master and Chinese astrologer who has had many high profile predictions come true, says that people working in agriculture, real estate, healthcare, funeral care and cleaning industries can expect profitable returns and a good reputation.

According to Lillian Bridges, a renowned author and speaker on Chinese Medicine, "People will spend exponentially more than usual, especially for travel, trendy items such as clothing and whatever becomes an 'it' product phenomenon. Stock markets are likely to fluctuate rapidly, but economic growth is expected overall globally by the end of the year."

So keep an eye on trends and look for new and clever ways to promote your product or service. "Creativity and imagination will be admired and rewarded", says Bridges.

This is also a great year for marketing and advertising, with people being in a buying mood. Keep your messages humorous and/or heartwarming as these are the ones that will resonate most with people. People will also be travelling more and fun is the ultimate objective.

Bottom line: A sense of humour, flexibility and versatility are what you’ll need to get through this somewhat chaotic, changeable but ultimately fun year.

With "Do what you love" and "Serious fun" being two of our core values, Crimson Leaf Studios is looking forward to a great year! Why not come along for the ride?
